Parquet is a classic floor covering, environmentally friendly, beautiful, expensive and of high quality. Although many new types of flooring have appeared recently, parquet flooring does not lose its relevance. He even left the inner premises, going out into nature. With the help of a special garden parquet, you can create magnificent terraces and seating areas in the garden and courtyard, make wonderful paths, pool areas, outdoor verandas that are not afraid of moisture.
Decking is also used to decorate water areas in landscape design - the contours of a pond, a stream, a miniature bridge will look aesthetically pleasing, walking on the parquet is pleasant and comfortable - its surface is warm and absolutely not afraid of moisture. Garden parquet is made of square or rectangular tiles that are connected to each other using fasteners.
The very name of the terraced parquet - decking, is associated with the water element. From American English, this translates as deck. Decking has long been used on the terraces of American and Canadian homes. Today we can also decorate our yard or veranda with this beautiful practical material.
Decorating the pool area with a deck board. The water area looks very attractive, and walking on the board barefoot is much more pleasant, because it is warm. Sun loungers with umbrellas will look great on such a site.
The decking board is based on a wood-polymer composite, fixing additives, and polymer mixtures (can be both synthetic and organic). As a raw material for the manufacture of decking, wood is used from Siberian larch, cedar and exotic trees such as kumaru, teak, azobe, mahogany and merbau, which are the most resistant to decay. Tropical wood parquet is much more expensive.
WPC (or wood-polymer composite) is a mixture of wood flour and thermoplastic. It is a high strength, moisture resistant material with low thermal conductivity. The more wood flour is in the mixture, the more the material resembles wood. WPC is also called liquid wood for its similarity to natural wood and plasticity. The percentage of wood in the composition of the composite is large - from 60 to 80%.
In order for the owners of summer cottages to appreciate the new material, we will tell you about its advantages.
Decking components are separate modules, it can be either decking or tiles.
Decking can be smooth or have grooves on the surface for anti-slip effect and moisture drainage. The second option is preferable. The length of the board is from 1.5 to 6 meters. The board is of two types: with a hard and soft module. The soft-modular board has a plastic frame. Special frame fasteners allow you to quickly and efficiently connect the modules using self-tapping screws. After the completion of the work, the structure of the coating looks solid, the fastening details are not visible. Rigid module boards are made of moisture resistant solid wood.
Decking is wood that is ideal for outdoor use. After heat treatment - dousing with heated steam without access to air, the tree acquires new properties - moisture is removed from it, it does not crack, does not dry out under the influence of sunlight, does not lose color, does not swell at high humidity, it becomes lighter.
But garden parquet is already a two-layer tile. The upper layer is lamellas (front decking strips), the lower one is a backing frame (can be made of wood or plastic).
As already mentioned, it is convenient and easy to install garden parquet. Any surface is suitable for installation - soil, crushed stone, gravel, tiles, plank floors.
Installation of garden parquet on a gravel base - a pre-leveled base, tiles are connected with fasteners in the manner of a designer. Possible pattern options - in this case, the alternation of horizontally and vertically located stripes
It is not recommended to use a sand pillow as a base - the tiles will sag, squeeze into the sand, which will lead to uneven surfaces.
There are types of decking, which, like a board, are attached to the logs. This is a more practical option, such a platform will be stronger, you can not dismantle it for the winter.
If you chose soil as a base, it must be cleaned of weeds, stones and covered with geotextile fabric, otherwise weeds will try to grow through the cracks between the tiles, which can lead to deformation of the coating. It is most convenient to mount the garden parquet on a flat concrete base.
In general, for laying, no preliminary preparation of the base is required. The main thing is that the surface is flat and the drops are no more than 0.5 cm per square meter).
Laying parquet on a tile base is the easiest and most convenient option. On a perfectly flat base, the terrace will last longer, because the load on the fasteners is minimal
Each parquet module has locks that need to be connected to each other. This is done quickly, so that in a few minutes you can assemble a square meter of such a coating. If you need to leave room for protrusions, pipes, parts of the modules that get in the way, you can simply cut off with a saw.
The installation process is shown in detail in the video:
Installation of decking is done differently. The board is not fixed on the base, but on the support logs made of wood or plastic. Lags are laid on a flat base - tiles or other material.
The distance between the lags is 35-50cm. The longer the board, the greater the distance between the lags, the shorter the board, the shorter the distance.
Installation of a long terrace board on logs. Under the logs there is a substrate for moisture drainage. Many companies that produce terrace boards complete sets with a special substrate material.
If the coating is planned to be operated in high humidity conditions, you need to put something solid under the logs, for example, ceramic tiles. This will allow excess moisture to drain. Lags can be fixed on the base with self-tapping screws, if necessary.
We put the first board on the logs, align it along the edge of the log. The board is attached to the lags in the groove with a self-tapping screw at an angle of 45 degrees.
The first board can be attached to the log in two ways:
1) into the groove with a self-tapping screw
2) or with a fastening clip, also using a self-tapping screw
The clips are inserted into the grooves of the terrace board and onto the log, the clips are attached to the logs with self-tapping screws. The next board must be inserted into the clip with a groove - the rest of the boards are mounted in a similar way.
After you fix the clip to the lag with a self-tapping screw, you can attach the next one to the fixed board by inserting its groove. So we continue to the end
For finishing the decking around the perimeter, you can use plugs to hide the side grooves of the outer boards.

A terrace or a platform made of garden parquet for the winter must be dismantled if it is not laid on logs in the open air. A platform made of a terrace board laid on logs can be covered with a film, and if it is located under a canopy, winter is not at all afraid of it.
A terrace board can be used to make both a simple platform and a recreation area with several levels. To create such a zone, you need a specialist, but such a mini-cafe will allow you to gather with friends and celebrate holidays in your garden under the open sky
In the event of dismantling, the tiles will need to be cleaned of dust, dirt, dried and chosen to store it in a dry place before the onset of heat, when you can again enjoy relaxing in the open area.

Decking is a floor covering made up of individual modules (in the form of a board or tile), designed for outdoor use. With the help of decking, a smooth and aesthetic wood covering is created that is resistant to weathering and temperature extremes. Unlike a conventional wooden floor (parquet, for example), decking has increased moisture resistance. This allows you to use it on open terraces, areas in front of the pool, garden paths. However, the use of decking is not limited to the backyard area; more and more often, it can also be found as flooring for balconies, saunas, baths, indoor pools, bathrooms and kitchens. A huge advantage of decking is also the ease of installation, which any home craftsman can handle.
Garden parquet (or decking) is a finishing material that looks like tile modules of a square or rectangular shape. The sections have a soft or rigid attachment, are made of wood, plastic or a combination of these. The strips are fixed on a special profile and are arranged in a pattern or parallel to each other. There are small holes between the planks to avoid water stagnation on the tile surface. Also, this coating has another name - anti-slip, or anti-slip. It appeared because you cannot slip and fall even on a wet garden parquet.
The word "decking" is translated as "deck". This name came to be applied to garden parquet due to its origin. Decking was used for many years as a coating on US ships, and over time it moved to the homes of Americans, many of whom live on the coast. A little later, the Canadians also appreciated this finishing material. At that time, tiles were made from natural wooden boards; pine, oak and cedar wood were often used. However, the tree needs careful maintenance, and the method of resinification, which was used for longevity in the navy, was unacceptable in everyday life.
Now more wear-resistant materials have appeared, and garden parquet is used everywhere:
Decking is used not only in the country. It can also be used in urban environments. For example, they can decorate the floor in the loggia.
Some features of the installation of garden parquet
Let us remind you that the installation of the decking is very quick and easy. It should be noted that a decking board is of two types: a soft and a hard module.
The rigid module consists of solid water-resistant wood.
In the board of the soft module there is a plastic frame, to which the front part of the parquet is screwed with screws. The ventilation system is designed in such a way that the decking will not become moldy even after prolonged exposure to a humid environment.
The decking frame is equipped with special fasteners, so that the modules are quickly and efficiently fastened to each other. The whole structure is designed in such a way that after the garden parquet is completely covered, the fastening elements of the modules are not visible and the impression is created that the floor is solid.
